The project is a newly built 3,500 sq ft single-family residence designed for a young couple who travel frequently. Inspired by the immersive atmosphere of dark-toned, hotel-inspired interiors, the design seeks to translate that sense of richness and retreat into a home that still feels balanced, livable, and quietly expressive.

Deep brown wood veneer panels are paired with a highly realistic slate-inspired faux stone finish, subtly enhanced with a pearlescent sheen.

In the main living areas, deep brown wood veneer panels are paired with a highly realistic slate-inspired faux stone finish, subtly enhanced with a pearlescent sheen.  A vapour fireplace anchors the space, establishing a grounded, tactile backdrop. Rather than relying on contrast alone, the material palette is articulated through subtle variations in density and rhythm, allowing heavier surfaces to be offset by moments of visual lightness and permeability. This interplay creates a sense of spatial depth while maintaining a calm and cohesive atmosphere.

In the powder room, a ceiling-mounted faucet is introduced in response to the narrow proportions of the space. By shifting the visual focus upward, the design rebalances the composition and enhances the perception of verticality. Throughout the home, a layered lighting strategy allows the atmosphere to transition from day to evening, supporting both everyday living and more intimate moments of retreat.
